A look back at spring
June is closing in on us – the first official month of summer (in Denmark anyway). Even though I’ve learned that you can’t plan your capsules based 100% upon the calendar, because you can never be too sure about the weather (more on that HERE), I don’t think it’s too early to start sharing my thoughts on my coming summer capsule with you guys. A lot of you live in countries where the summer has already arrived and you’ve been asking for inspiration for weeks, and I’ve also had to whip out some summer items from storage myself, because the weather has been so amazing in Denmark the past couple weeks. I’m sure it will turn around again as soon as we hit June if I know the Danish summer weather, but then I’ll have plenty of in-between items in my all-year basic wardrobe to play around with. Just as every season!I may have startet my spring capsule a bit early (spring didn’t arrive in Denmark before the end of April), so I’ve definitely learned the importance of looking out the window and trusting the weather forecasts a bit more.
…

Can’t wait to recreate some of these looks!
My inspiration for the coming season
This year I’m thinking about going back to basics a little bit. Keep the colours neutral and go for natural fabrics like cotton, silk, linen and accessories in straw. I think I’m on to a more traditional scandi summer vibe this season. I’ve already been looking through my storage to get an overview of what I have stored away from last summer (watch the video below), find out if I feel like there’s something missing and then I’ve started to update my wardrobe overview. Both the one I make in Photoshop and put up on my Pinterest (so you guys can pin it for your own reference), but also the overview I make in the Cladwell app, which I btw am still super thrilled to use. Then I can constantly see how many nice outfits it generates, with the items I choose for my summer capsule. As usual I’m writing down wishes in my notebook (learn more HERE), and I’m also gonna write down some thoughts for the spring season we just passed. One of the thoughts is like I said going back to basics for a bit, and to be more true to my love for colourless and neutral palettes.
…
My wishlist
I’ve already shared a couple summer trends with you guys over on my Youtube channel, and I’ve as always chosen to focus on the sustainable versions (secondhand or from ethical brands), and I’m also focusing on the more longer lasting kinds of trends, that you’ll be guaranteed to be able to use next year too. To me it’s about being creative when ever there’s something I’d like to add to my wardrobe, or if there’s a certain trend I might fall for. Can I find it in a secondhand version? Do I already have something in my wardrobe that can substitute, maybe after a little DIY? To mention an example I know I have a cream coloured cotton shopping net laying around with a pineapple printed on it, that I got in a hotel in Paris once. Right now wicker bags and straw bags are everywhere, but I actually think a natural coloured cotton net like the one I already have can substitute, so I’ll probably just whip out that bag instead of purchasing a straw bag. If however you are madly in love with the ladder, then I’ve found a couple of really affordable secondhand ones in the trend video below. I’ve also reworked an old pair of jeans I had stored away, and made them into a denim skirt. I’ve been wanting a proper denim skirt for my summer capsule since last summer, and it turned out great – just to mention another example of creative thinking.
When it comes to new purchases, there are a few things I’ve been dreaming about too (like a pair of vintage dungarees or a certain white broderie top* from People Tree), and I’ve succeeded in getting both of these. But besides these things I have so many items from last summer, that I can’t wait to be reunited with! I can’t wait for summertime (and vacay in Italy!), and I really hope it’s gonna be a much better summer than the cold and wet one we had last year. The beautiful weather we’ve been having the past couple weeks has really lifted my mood, and it’s been amazing being able to sit outside working, eating, napping and just being.
