Summer capsule: half-way update.

So like I did back in spring, I thought it would be kinda cool with a little update on how my summer capsule is working out for me this year. I think it’s something I will be doing every season actually, because I always learn something new about myself in the process and maybe it will benefit you guys too. Officially we still have a month left of summer if we look at the calendar in central Europe anyway, but with the temperatures we’ve been having I do think that summer could be stretching way in to September this year. Last season I learned that I need to loosen up and have a more chilled out approach to the seasons, because obviously the weather needs to fit my capsules before I make any huge changes. So let’s wait and see when autumn decided to arrive. Until then I’m gonna enjoy summer and all the great summer items I have in my wardrobe, which I have been loving all season. I choose to go for a more neutral colour palette this year which has really proven to be the right thing for me. Looking back, I’ve already been so pleased with my summer capsule!

Already looking ahead?

This past week I have felt a small bubbly feeling in my stomach when I think about autumn. I can’t help but to long for it just a bit. Maybe it’s the combo of an extremely hot and dry summer this yer (we seriously need someone to send over a bit of rain!), the fact that a lot of autumn styles have started to hit the stores or that I keep stumbling upon and pinning lots of lovely autumn outfits from my start feed on Pinterest. I’m longing a bit for indoor ‘hygge’, hot cocoa and autumn leaves. I know it’s a bit crazy! It’s funny how you have this natural urge to move forward season after season, but I’m well aware of it and I actually love the anticipation you feel once the weather starts changing ones more. How the nature around us changes is one thing that amazes me every season but the joy of being reunited with stored clothing is quite exciting too! I think my husband and I ought to book ourselves another short city-break during fall like we did back in January. Maybe we’ll go back to London or maybe we should drive to Berlin this time. I’m dying to go down there and check out some of the huges secondhand stores they have! There’s just something magical about a long weekend in a large city during fall, don’t you think?

Anyway, summer is indeed still present så of course fall has to wait. We’re all human though, and even I can get hit by a bit of boredom. This is especially common if you like to express yourself through fashion. If ever I am struck by the urge to bring back a little new life into my wardrobe even in the middle of a capsule wardrobe season, I like to go through my storage again or maybe I’ll even visit a local thriftshop. You could also swap a few styles with a friend or maybe steal something out of your boyfriend’s closet. There’s many ways to be creative and have a more sustainable approach to wardrobe refreshments like that, instead of buying something out of impulse. Fashion is supposed to be fun and it has to work for you – and in my opinion this more fluid and relaxed approach to the set of ‘rules’ is just way more sustainable and suitable for real life.

Going through storage and a couple DIY’s

Some of you might remember the brown pair of sandals I choose to bring out from storage at the beginning of summer, but since I didn’t reach for them nearly as much as I had hoped for I decided to put them back and bring out another old fave, which was part of my summer capsule last year. The cool thing about storing away clothes like this is that joy of being reunited with something you still love. It feels like shopping, only you’re just hoping your own wardrobe instead. Besides the sandals I’ve also been pretty into all those cute little summer tops we’ve been seeing everywhere this season (similar to this one), but instad of actually buying one I pulled out an old secondhand shirt from storage and decided to get a little crafty myself. So I turned it into that cute top with tie shoulders that you see on the outfit above. I think it turned out pretty damn cute! There are so many creative ways to refresh your wardrobe, and a good DIY is pure ‘hygge’ to me.

Now the rest of the summer is ahead, and I’m gonna enjoy it just as long as it’s here. I know I’ll miss it when autumn gets a little too dark, grey and wet, haha!

Bare shopping i sit eget skab.

LOL! – I’m a sucker for wardrobe capsule posts, since that is the direction I’ve been moving in. Your capsules are very practical and inspiring for me. Thank you.
