Hair: my styling essentials.

/ Over time I have really tried to minimize my consumption of hair care products. As I have mentioned before, it has been a about trying to cut off unnecessary “miracle” products, and stick to what works and also has the least impact not only on myself and my body but also our environment. We stopped using hairspray a few months ago, and instead we make our own completely natural, easy and budget friendly (get the recipe HERE).

/ The oil from Meraki has been shown on the blog many times, and it’s great because it can be used for more than one purpose. I use it in my hair instead of conditioner and also if I would like to add a little extra shine in dry hair – just a little bit is enough. And then it’s organic and comes in an environmentally friendly packaging. I usually have my hair loose and preferably also make a little waves or curls in it. After that I put in a little bit of wax. Sometimes also a little bit of volume powder. This one called OSIS is really good. Recently I actually read that you can use cornstarch as a natural replacement for dry shampoo/volume powder. As soon as this one is empty, I will definitely try to remove the lid and pour in some cornstarch instead!

The Meraki hair oil is no longer available. What would your alternative be? I’m in the UK.

    Thanks Janet

Really I swear by this oil, so I haven’t tried many other alternatives to be honest. I know many people love organic coconut oil as a great multipurpose alternative both for your hair and skin. Organic argan oil would work too! x
