Four days in London: packing list & outfits.

Packing can be somewhat of a stressful factor for some people. Both the actual packing but also the unpacking can be something that is being postponed especially after coming home (just ask my husband, haha). Well, there’s not anything more unsexy and uninspiring as a overly stuffed and cluttered suitcase! Therefore I thought I wanted to share a couple tips on how to pack light and clutter-free but at the same time make sure you pack enough. I’m gonna show you which outfits I have planned on wearing during our trip to London this weekend. I think posts and videos like these are super inspiring and fun to watch myself, so maybe I’ll make this part of a little series I’ll make every time I have to pack for a upcoming trip.

The weather forecast for London

The first thing I always do before I start to choose which outfits I want to pack, is to check the weather forecasts. I’ll make sure to check it as close to the departure as possible, so that I make sure my outfits match the actual weather once we get there. Right now the weather in London is quite alright (around 10 degrees and mild), but since there’s always the risk of that changing into rain and colder temperatures, I’ve mase sure to pack some things that fit both scenarios.

Planned outfits

Warmth. With the weather in mind I’ve chosen some of my current favourites from my winter capsule, that I know fit well all with each other, that can be dressed up and down and can be warmer/cooler by adding or removing some layers. The thermal underwear top is a must for me this time of year, and the blazer is a super stylish extra layer to wear under my wool coat. I’ve decided o bring along two different scarves, since these are easy ways of spicing up my daytime looks, that will kind of look the same from the outside otherwise. Other than making sure I’ll stay warm they are an extra twist to my looks as well.

Comfort. I’ve of course taken comfort in consideration as an extremely important factor for these looks, because we’ll be walking around all day. So I’m super excited about my newest addition to my wardrobe, which is my Dr. Martens Laura boots, that I’ve bought secondhand on Trendsales for a really reasonable price too. They fit my feet SO well, and they have that iconic rubber sole that is both sturdy but also super soft and comfy as a pair of sneakers. These just keep my feet much more dry and warm than actual sneakers ever will, so they are perfect. I feel like I’ve put together some looks that are both comfy to travel in but also to be sightseeing in. Soft knitwear, comfy trousers and shoes are a must for me on a trip like this. I don’t need anything that is itchy, crawls up into a certain place or annoys me in any other way. I need everything to just work, so I can be present during the trip (all while I feel stylish at the same time ya know). That’s also why I like to travel with my shopper because it can carry all of my important belongings I need at the airport, and then I like to switch to my crossbody bag when we reach the destination. Then I don’t need to worry about carrying my bag, because it will just hang loose on my body. Then i can always put larger things like my water bottle and camera in my husbands trusty backpack, haha! Do invest in a bigger crossbody like this one if you don’t have that opportunity though 😉

Style. Even though comfort is an important factor to me, style is just as important (I am after all a fashionista deep down, you know), and I’m really satisfied with the daytime outfits I’ve come up with for this trip. The same goes for the evening looks I’ve put together. I’ve chosen to bring my trusty old Acne Alma boots as my fancy footwear, because they are both elegant and sleek but also comfy and warm, and I don’t want to be freezing. My nighttime looks are very basic but can all be dressed up with all my favourite golden jewelry, my Marc Jacobs bag (which I’ll spice up by changing the leather strap with my detachable golden strap during the evening), and then maybe a subtle smokey eye or a red lip. I don’t need much more than that!

Vejrudsigten i London

Other helpful tools

Normally I would plan my outfits using Polyvore, but since I recently subscribed to the Cladwell capsule wardrobe app, I decided to use this for the purpose this time around. It’s really great because it makes a virtual overview of the items you choose to pack, but it will also come up with outfit possibilities for you, so you’re sure you have enough items to create some cool looks for different occasions too. Polyvore or Stylebook is really great (and free/cheaper) alternatives. In that way you can avoid stressing over outfits while you’re away, and at the same time you’ll have room in your suitcase for souvenirs or new purchases (read my shopping guide HERE), but you can also keep a as clutter-free suitcase as possible. Lastly I wanted to mention these cool suitcase organizers which are great especially if you’re travelling for a long time. I don’t have them myself, but they’re high on my wishlist!
