The days of frosty degrees has reached Denmark, and therefore I am super happy that I’ve finally been reunited with some of my heavier jumpers and coats. My autumn capsule was a bit more simple this year with around 37 items in total, and it worked out so well! Normally I like doing capsule wardrobes with a 35 items all-years basic wardrobe + 5-7 season based items on top of that, but this year I choose to pack away some of the basic items I hadn’t been using very much anyway (primarily because of the temperatures), and then I replaced those with some older autumn faves instead. And I’ve chosen to stick to this approach during the winter season! My winter capsule is actually very similar to my autumn capsule, but like I said I’ve added some heavier items to make sure I stay warm through the colder months.
The autumn season was all about our new house and the renovation of the inner walls and ceilings, which we are still not done with. That of course means that many of my weekday evenings and weekends have been spend in my work uniform! It’s not that I haven’t been inspired by my autumn wardrobe at all but life happens, and I’ve been wearing the before mentioned work uniform quite a lot. We’re done with the first few (more critical) rooms now though, so we’re working with a slightly slower pace on the house now than we did the first 2 months after getting the keys. We had a deadline because we needed to be out of our apartment, so we wanted to work hard to make sure the bedroom and master bathroom was done before moving in. And we managed! We’re still working many hours on the house though, because we really want it to be done on the inside before the spring season – but we don’t have to work every single night and weekend anymore. Anyway, now that we’ve slowed down a little, this of course also means that I am now finally able to wear my normal clothes a biiiit more than before and it feels so good, haha! There’s just something about wearing clothes that makes you feel amazing, am I right?

Old faves
As I mentioned, my winter capsule is in many ways very similar to my autumn capsule – I’ve actually decided to stick with many of the same items instead of packing them away for the seasons ahead (like my brown blazer, the brown loafers and my camel coat), and I’m still so obsessed with the colour theme. I just think it’s perfect for this season! The navy and brown colours compliment each other so well, and they suit my monochromatic basics perfectly. A few of the things I’ve taken out of my storage boxes is for example my winter parka. With its 7-8 years of age it is one one of the oldest items I have in my wardrobe. And it’s in such great condition still! I remember talking about last year I think, that it had started to look a bit “worn out”. But especially this year – right before the start of my low buy 2020 challenge – I look at it differently. Because truth is, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it! Well, maybe it could do with being washed soon. But it’s neither broken or worn out in any way. So, the winter parka stays as long as it lasts! I’ve also added some some older jumpers, both of which are around 5-6 years old. The cream rollneck jumper is an old wool item from H&M, but it’s lasted pretty well considering the fact that I wear it every single winter. I’ve also added a navy blue wool jumper, which I once bought during a sample sale when I had my very first job as a designer. It’s actually a men’s jumper and sadly you can’t get this exact jumper anywhere, but I’ve linked something similar for you above. And then there are other items that I’ve chosen to bring with me into the winter season too, that I also had as part of my autumn capsule. Originally I wanted to pack away the brown loafers for the winter season, but I decided to keep them in my wardrobe and then I’m simply gonna wear them with socks through winter! I’ve got a handful of brown/beige and light grey socks, that actually looks rather cool with a pair of loafers like these. They are also great for all my cropped jeans and pants, to make sure my ankles stay warm.
…
A few newbies
I’ve added a few new items to my wardrobe this season – the brown jumper and the navy pants. The jumper is from fave Armed Angels and it’s made in this wonderfully soft and heavy organic cotton. I’ve used it quite a lot already! The navy pants are a gift from TENCEL, because I’m part of a campaign they are doing through December on Instagram. A collaboration that I am extremely proud and honored to be a part of! You can read a bit more about why I love this super sustainable material right HERE. The pants are also from Armed Angels, because they are a TENCEL certified brand, so that’s why I choose these for the campaign. They are lovely with a jumper or classic white shirt and a pair of boots, or a tee, blazer and sneakers. They are also great for more fancy occasions! So allround a lovely addition to my wardrobe. In reality I might keep these as part of my basic wardrobe as a replacement for a pair of older (but black) pants from H&M. I’ve stored those away instead – might actually turn them into a pair of shorts next summer, who knows.

So there you have my winter capsule wardrobe for 2019! The winter season is cold and dark, and winter depressions are no joke. But I hope that you’ll get the chance to find som light in the dark this season. December is magical because of Christmas, but January and February can be kind of heavy to get through. If you need some inspiration on how to add some more “hygge” and warmth to this cold and dark season, I made THIS video a while back. It contains 10 ideas with “hygge” activities to do during autumn, but which you can of course also do during the winer season. A way to bring a bit more warmth and light into your life, before we finally reach springtime again.

Hi Signe,
Thank you for inspiring me! I have just discovered your YouTube channel and blog, and I love your philosophy, casual style, and capsule approach. Recently I have lost 25 pounds, so I am rebuilding my wardrobe with smaller sizes and classic pieces. Your capsule charts are amazing! I work from home and have great photoshop skills, so I plan to make a similar chart for my new clothes. ?
All the best,
Sue
Signe- in previous seasons you’ve made us a few sample boards of how you would style together pieces. I really miss that because I love how you put things together. Will you be doing that again for your winter-capsule too? I know it’s much like autumn, but love your suggestions – and helps me get the most out of every piece in my minimal wardrobe – it’s been the heart of my success! You are such an inspiration! Thank you for what you do!
Hi Vicky! Thanks for your comment! <3 I don't know why I skipped it this time really, but I'll remember to make them in the future for sure. Thanks for your input! Signe x
