12 classic autumn staples to invest in

Sep 9, 2020 | 7 comments

The lovely autumn season is upon us and I couldn’t be happier! Even though my pregnant body is starting to feel a little heavy and tired now that I’m only a month away from my due date – and most days I (admittedly) can’t really be bothered to make too much of an effort when it comes to dressing, I am very happy to be reuinted with some of my autumn/winter favourites again. I thought it would be the perfect time to share with you some of the things (or at least similar) that I tend to pull out every single autumn. Items which I think are perfect for this time of your both because they are cozy and comfy, but also chic.

*Wool coat

A classic wool coat is something I think many of us love this tie of year. It’s timeless, beautiful and easy to style. Especially the black, navy or beige/brown kind are among my faves.

Brown jumper

I’ve got two brown-ish jumpers in my wardrobe, both are older purchases. And every autumn I’m excited to get reunited with them. It might be somewhat of a cliché, but the brown colour is just so beautiful (all through the year really) especially during the autumn season. I love dressing with nature in mind when the seasons shift like that.

*Beige blazer

Speaking of brown, my brown blazer is also out to play for yet another season. Yep, I’m going all in on those brown shades this time of year haha! This beige alternativ is also really nice though, and you will easily be able to style it with other autumn colours too. It might even be a bit more ”easy” to style and a bit more versatile because the light, beige colour is also perfect for the spring/summer season.

*Tailored trousers

If there’s something I’m excited about, it’s being able to wear my favourite tailored trousers again, when I’m no longer pregnant! I have a pair in wool with wide legs and a pair in a slightly more light material with straight legs. Both are kept in storage right now, and I cross my fingers that I’ll be able to fit them after my pregnancy. No matter what, there’s just something about a classic pair of tailored trousers like these, that scream autumn to me. They are lovely with both sneakers and boots.

*Knee boots

Something I’ve loved for years is knee boots. They do have somewhat of a come-back in the fashion scene every once in a while, and they are a great alternative to the classic ankle boots. I used to have a pair myself until a couple years ago, but I had to give that pair up because they didn’t feel comofortable on my foot. Recently I found a replacement secondhand on Vestiaire though, and they are so beautiful. They are made in the softest leather and the sole is also super soft and comfortable.

*Brown boots

Speaking of boots I have of course also brought my brown boots out from storage again this season. Again, the colour is amazing and it’s a great way to get in the mood for autumn. I also love styling my outfits so that my footwear and handbags match in colour, so if I wear these boots I love wearing a brown bag too. It brings in such a lovely coherence.

*Wool scarf

I live in my wool scarves during winter! I’ve got two large woolscarves that are very similar to the one above, and which I’ve had for years. They are so snuggly and soft and they still look like new. So investing is key here.

Rollneck jumper

A rollneck is also a must for me this time of year. It’s lovely on it’s own, it gives extra warmth to your neck and it’s great to wear with both wool coats and blazers too. If it’s a slightly more slim fit version you can even use it underneath other items like blouses and dresses, to elongate the life of these and carry them with you way into the autumn and winter season.

*Wool fedora

There’s something about a wool fedora that reminds me of autumn too. Kind of like the straw hat, which is perfect for the summer season and days on the beach. So of course I’m going to incorporate my wool fedora into my looks a little more often through the autumn season, to bring in some more personality and added contrast.

Grey jumper

Last but certainly not least I just wanted to mention my grey jumper (which I’ve mentioned a billion times). I’ve said it before but it has to be one of my absolute most worn pieces ever! Not only do I wear it through autumn and winter, I also love wearing it on cooler days during spring and summer. The grey colour is timeless and it just goes with everything I have in my wardrobe. Litterally everything.

Kh Signe
