The best fitting jeans I’ve ever had

Sep 13, 2019 | 12 comments

When it comes to jeans I like having a few different fits to choose from; my skinny jeans are great for oversized blazers, loose shirts and big, cozy jumpers and my boyfriend jeans are great for casual days where I can’t be bothered wearing anything too tight, and then there’s my straight leg jeans. They are probably my favourite fit to be honest. And recently I’ve added a new member of the straight leg jeans to the family, and I’m so excited about these. The new jeans I’ve bought are the Fjellaa cropped from my favourite brand Armed Angels.

I’ve already got 3 pairs of jeans from this brands and also a denim skirt and a pair of shirts. Every time I try something new from this I fall more and more in love with it. To those of you who might not know Armed Angels it is a German brand who make ethically made clothing in sustainable and durable materials such as organic cotton, tencel and recycled wool (to mention a few). I’d actually say that this brand is a good European alternative to American Everlane*, if you don’t really feel like ordering clothing all the way from the US to Europe. There’s something to think about in terms of sustainability there too. I do love Everlane myself, and I don’t buy things from there too often (I do still work with them sometimes though, especially since i have a huge US based audience), but when I do buy something from the brand I intend to keep it in my wardrobe for a really long time anyway and it’s not something I’m going to repeatedly buy again and again, if that makes sense. So in terms of sustainability there are a few things to think about here.

So anyway, back to my new jeans! I’ve been wanting to add a pair of jeans in this lovely dark blue colour to my basic wardrobe for quite some time, but sort of in the same fit as my vintage Levi’s. And when I saw these from Armed Angels I just had to give them a whirl! Again, I love this classic colour and in general I find dark blue denim to be perfect for autumn. Well, you can wear them all through the year but they especially suit this season I think. The jeans fit so snug around the waist and bum, and I find them to be so flattering. The fact that they are cropped make them perfect for sneakers or loafers as I’m wearing here, but I do also find cropped jeans to be perfect with ankle boots when it starts getting a bit more chilly. They are made in 100% organic cotton; all without stretch which is something I personally really like. I know most people like their jeans to have a bit of stretch but for this type of jean I don’t think it’s right to be honest! They feel like proper denim, really durable like a real, oldschool pair of jeans ought to and yeah, I’m just head over heels for them.

Regarding the size I’m usually a 36 (s/m) in bottoms. All my jeans from Armed Angels are in a size 27 (except my Tillaa jeans which is their skinny jeans, because they do recommend you to go up one size in those), so I’ve actually gone for the fit they recommend in their size charts. I’ve mentioned it before but I’ll say it again: remember to ALWAYS check the size chart when buying online, and make sure to also read the full info on the particular item. That way you lower the risk of having to return, which is also a big sinner when it comes to wasting ressources and sustainable shopping.

I’m over the moon for this brand in any case, and I’ve yet to be disappointed with anything I’ve tried from them. Win!

Win!

    Hi Signe,
I usually wear a 29 on the waist in jeans. So I am guessing I should go for that with these jeans? Also, I am 177cm tall. And the jeans look short(ish) on you. I am guessing that means I should order a longer size? Is that even available? I am planning on wearing these in winter, so wouldn’t want them to be too much on the short side…

Hi Emma. If you don’t want these to be cropped, you should go for the “Fjellaa” (https://www.armedangels.de/en/frauen-denims-5-pockets-straight-fit-solid-fjellaa-30000480-803.html – they are only available in one color I’m afraid) instead, not the “Fjellaa Cropped” (which these are). They offer them in those two different lengths 🙂 Also regarding your waist size, I can’t really say if you should go for your regular size or not – I’d recommend you to follow their size chart or use the chat feature on the shop, to ask their customer service for some advice if you’re in between sizes. Hope that helps! Love, Signe x

Every time I see a post about the best-fitting jeans, I have to laugh. When I need jeans I try on every pair in a store in sizes up and down from my usual size. If I am lucky I find a pair that is flattering.

I know it can be a struggle and real life shopping is always better, however if you live in a small town like me where they don’t offer sustainable brands shopping online is my best solution 🙂 I found these online, in fact I buy most of my jeans online and hardly ever have problems 🙂

    Hej Signe,

Så fin blog du har! God inspiration 🙂

Kh Signe
